Delhi USD Students Enjoy Dinner with Scientists (CLICK HERE FOR MORE)

Scientists met at UC Merced for an evening of fine food and conversation — though the conversation was with DUSD's 6th- through 8th-grade students who are prospective scientists.

The Merced County Office of Education, in conjunction with UC Merced ReCCES, hosted the annual Dinner With a Scientist from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on April 6 in the Joseph E. Gallo Recreation and Wellness Center at UC Merced.

The event gave our students the opportunity to interact with scientists from a variety of fields of study over dinner in a professional environment. Our students were joined by teachers, administrators, and staff. Thank you, all, for supporting our students this way.

Each table was assigned at least one scientist representing local organizations, such as UC Merced, San Luis Wildlife Refuge, Green Meadows Outdoor School, Hilmar Cheese, Foster Farms, Merced College and Fresno Chaffee Zoo, to name a few. (Adapted from an article from Nathan Quevedo at MCOE, with gratitude)

Delhi Parent & Community Meeting (LCAP) Draws Hundreds to Learn About Parent Engagement and Immigration Law

We would like to thank our wonderful presenters, Allison and Noe, and the hundreds and hundreds of parents who attended the March LCAP meeting on Thursday, March 23rd. This is the kind of parent engagement that makes Delhi Unified School District so unique among California districts. Whereas districts struggle to bring a significant number of parents to various meetings, DUSD continues setting the standard--bringing in thousands of parents to our LCAP meetings every year.
Thank you parents for your dedication. We are becoming an even better district because of you.

Mathematics Placement Act of 2015

Access to mathematics courses that prepare students for college and career is essential for student success after high school. All students should have the opportunity to excel in mathematics, not just students who plan to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). With fair, objective, and transparent placement policies in place, California’s high school students will benefit from challenging mathematics courses that support their college and career goals.

Senate Bill 359 (Chapter 508, Statutes of 2015), known as the California Mathematics Placement Act of 2015, was signed by Governor Jerry Brown on October 5, 2015, and took effect on January 1, 2016.

The California Mathematics Placement Act of 2015 requires the governing boards or bodies of local educational agencies (LEAs) that serve pupils entering grade nine and that have not already done so to adopt “a fair, objective, and transparent mathematics placement policy” before the beginning of the 2016–17 school year.
The Procedures and Policy are in the process of being translated into spanish
