Students in grades three through eight and grade eleven will take the 2016–17 Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics. These tests are administered online.
The CAAs for ELA and mathematics in grades three through eight and grade eleven are individually administered to students who have an individualized education program that indicates the use of an alternate assessment on statewide assessments. All eligible students are required to participate in these online assessments.
The pilot of the CASTs will be administered during the portion of the LEA’s selected testing window that occurs on or after March 20, 2017. These tests are to be administered to all students in grades five and eight and to selected students in grades ten, eleven, and twelve. No scores will be provided during the CAST Pilot Test.
Through the STS for RLA, Spanish-speaking English learners in grades two through eleven are allowed to demonstrate their knowledge of the California content standards.
