FUNDERS OF THE EMERGING BILINGUAL COLLABORATIVE (EBC) WILL VISIT THE DELHI UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

In August of 2022, the Delhi Unified School District partnered with Merced COE to address early literacy through the research-based SEAL Instructional Model. The scope of the work includes a wrap-around model of effective training, planning, modeling lessons, one-on-one coaching with reflection and feedback.  The effective implementation of the instructional strategies within the Delhi Unified School District Kindergarten classrooms with the support of the Merced County Department of Education gained the attention of the EBC grant funders, who asked to visit the teachers in order to experience their support’s impact.

Representatives from the Sobrato Organization, the McClatchy Foundation, the Silver Giving Foundation and the Heising-Simons Foundation will join our district administrators and principals on November 14, 2022 to learn more about our implementation through classroom walkthroughs, discussions with principals, and reflection on progress and next steps.

“This visit and the further collaboration that will be sparked from it demonstrates that the philanthropists are committed to the work that Delhi Unified is doing with the SEAL instructional model,” stated the DUSD Superintendent Jose Miguel Kubes. “It signifies a huge commitment to the Central Valley to ensure we have a premier early literacy instructional model.”
