Hello Delhi Staff, With the holiday season approaching, I would love to bring a little extra joy to children and families who will be spending the holidays at Valley Children's Hospital in Madera. I am organizing a Delhi High School Toy Drive benefiting Valley Children's Hospital! I will personally be delivering our collected donations to the hospital during the week before winter break, with a tentative delivery date of Tuesday, December 15. Valley Children's Hospital's Child Life Department uses toys, games, crafts, and other age-appropriate activities to help children cope with hospitalization, bring comfort during difficult times, and allow them to simply be kids. This cause is especially meaningful because we have families right here in our district who have experienced extended hospital stays at Valley Children's. I know firsthand how much support and kindness can mean during those difficult times, and I would love for our Delhi community to come together to give back, especially during the holidays. What Can You Donate? The hospital serves children of all ages, from infants to teenagers, so donations for every age group are welcome! Some ideas include: Infants & Toddlers Baby toys and rattles Teething toys Board books and soft books Small stuffed animals Stacking toys and sensory toys Elementary-Age Children LEGO sets and building toys Coloring books and crayons Art and craft kits Puzzles Board games and card games Stuffed animals Activity books Tweens & Teenagers Journals and sketchbooks Art supplies and craft kits Card games and age-appropriate board games LEGO sets Coloring books and markers Small activity and creative kits Age-appropriate games and activities Clothing Donations Valley Children's Volunteer Services also accepts new or gently used clothing. Some ideas include: Pajamas Sweatpants and comfortable clothing T-shirts and sweatshirts Socks Children's clothing in various sizes Important Donation Guidelines: All toys, games, crafts, and other non-clothing donations MUST be brand new and unused. Items must come from a smoke-free and pet-free environment. Previously stored items cannot be accepted. Clothing donations may be new or gently used, according to the hospital's guidelines. Donors will not be able to distribute items directly to patients. All donations will be distributed through the hospital's staff to protect patient health and privacy. Where to Drop Off Donations: You can bring your donations directly to my classroom, or to the Ed Park front office. If you have a larger donation or need help arranging a pickup, please reach out to me and we can coordinate something! My goal is to collect as many donations as possible and deliver them to Valley Children's the week before winter break, tentatively December 15. I know this time of year can get busy, but even one small donation can help brighten a child's hospital stay.
